Who/ whom problem
A lady(who/whom) I know nursed the child.
The answer given in the book is "whom". But when I apply the substitution concept of "she/her", she fits better..for example I know(she) nursed the child). So according to the rule "who" should be the right answer. Please help.

Well, I've never tried to apply any 'she/her' test, but both work. Whom is quite formal. A lady who/whom I know nursed the child.

If I were trying to apply such a test, I would set it up like this:
A lady whom I know -- A lady, I know whom -- A lady, I know her.
A lady who/whom I know nursed the child.
