Which of these is more common?
If I have just been on the phone (I'm not anymore) and someone asks "Was it your boyfriend?" Which of these is more common to answer:
1) Yes. I just called to say goodnight.
2) Yes. I would just call to say goodnight.
3) Yes. I was just calling to say goodnight.

1) is fine. 3) also works. 2) is not appropriate.
