2. I was facing a strong possibility of having a bad day.

1. I was faced with a strong possibility of having a bad day. Sounds like you were a helpless (passive) victim of circumstances.
or
2. I was facing a strong possibility of having a bad day. Sounds like you may have had some choice. Perhaps you even chose to be in this situation.
