Hi,What can we call universities that teach economics-related specialities such as accounting, finance, marketing, etc? Should it be 'economics-related universities'?Many thanks,Nessie.

My dictionary has this definition.
university - an educational institution designed for instruction of students in many branches of advanced learning.

It goes on to talk about degrees. However, my point is that a university normally teaches many subjects.

In your case, I wonder if one might speak of 'a business college'?

Good call. I wrote "universities specialising in economics" thinking it to mean "universities with specialty in economics".

Thanks a lot, Clive, your point is absolutely exact!

I myself understand that 'university' is a term for an educational institution of many specialities/subjects. And so in my case, it is clear that 'college' or 'school' should be used instead of 'university'. However, I simply can't

because it will cause misunderstanding. You know, in my country, the two terms 'university' and 'college' have different meanings from those in English dictionaries

Both 'universities' and 'colleges' teach many subjects. The only difference is that a college degree is not as good as a university one (though college students concerntrate more on practice and university students on theory). Anyway I think I know what to do in this case. Thank you two very much

By the way, my 'university' is (the) Foreign Trade University. I wonder if I should use 'the' there.

Hi,
The use of 'the' in a case like that tends to be a bit idiomatic. If possible, check what other people do when they write the name in English.
What does the university itself write, eg if it has an English website?
