On our first day in Phuket, we arrived in the late morning. After checking into our hotel, we headed to Phuket town. It is hard to resist those old Sino-Portuguese streets with their beautiful shop houses and magnificent mansions. In addition to the hoary architecture, we visited a fascinating apothecary shop, and Wat Chalong, the most important of the Buddhist temples in Phuket. We also visited a Chinese temple, which was a little different from the many Thai Buddhist temples we had visited during our trip.
