Does this sentence grammatically is correct ??My initial interest in the area of Chemical systems was began when I was studying Physics at Delhi university.

Not exactly. It needs a few small changes, as shown below.

My initial interest in the area of chemical systems was begun when I was studying physics at Delhi University.

Further suggested improvements:

1. You don't need "initial" because you say "begun".

3. "while" goes better than "when" with "was studying", a past continuous tense.
