Suffocating / strangulating or asphyxiating LEASH?
I'm writing an essay on technology at the moment and am at loss as to which of the above would best collocate with a leash. Will be thankful for any help
Here's full sentence:
"But what can be done is to ensure that its impact is more of a helping hand than a suffocating leash that could ultimately lead to the self-annihilation of mankind."

They all mean the same thing, and so you can go with each one, but that is already a big sentence, and "asphyxiating" is a bit too flowery if you ask me. " leads up to a verb that is to be done by the subject. The verb that follows should be conjugated as though that subject will do it.

"What can be done is...." leads up to a verb that is to be done by the subject. The verb that follows should be conjugated as though that subject will do it. "Ensure" is better than "to ensure".
