Are these sentences correct:
1) I used a joke for them to realize their mistake.
Meaning: I used a joke to make them realize their mistake.
2) I used those words for the professor to understand that I could talk like her.
3) I'm thinking about using a car for us to go to work.

All those seem OK to me. I do not see substantial differences in meaning. By itself, "that made them" has less of a sense of deliberate purpose than "so that they" and "to make them", but the wording "I used", which itself implies deliberate purpose, reduces the effect of this.
