Use past tense or present tense here?
Salaam and Hi. Just wondering, which one is correct? It's confusing. This problem often comes when I intend to make a much longer sentence with 'comma' between the combined sentences.
1. I spent a few days to prepare for the audition, do mock interviews with my family and memorize my lines.
*I was thinking of using the present tense because of the word 'to' before the comma; to prepare for the audition
2. I spent a few days to prepare for the audition, did mock interviews with my family and memorized my lines.
*Thought that using past tense was correct because of the word 'spent' before the comma; I spent a few days
3. I spent a few days to prepare for the audition, doing mock interviews with my family and memorizing my lines.
*Have no idea whether this form of sentence is correct or wrong

Normally, you will have to use the ing-form of the verb, not the infinitive. I spent a few days preparing for the audition, doing mock interviews with my family and memorizing my lines. The sentence is otherwise fine.
