Use of the word anyhow
"Can I help you anyhow?" this seems really informal. Wouldn't somehow be better and why?

It does not even make sense. 'Anyhow' means 'in spite of (something)'. Can I help you somehow?

Can I help you somehow? -- This is common enough, but is sometimes too familiar for the listener. A safer choice is 'May I help/assist you in some way?'
