Use of 'reaching'

Hi

Could you please explain the use of reaching here? I couldn't find it in any dictionary. Also, is the dialogue fully natural?

A - Do you think he's been stealing money?

B - Why would you say that?

A - Well, if you haven't noticed...he's been wearing very expensive jackets and shoes, he bought a new...

B - Come on...you are reaching.

To reach in this context is to contemplate a conclusion without sufficient evidence, especially a negative one. It is as though the conclusion is just beyond arm's length, and you are stretching out for it.
