Is the use of also natural in the example given below? (The topic is suddenly and altogether changed?)
A - So you are practicing law there?
B - Kind of -- I'm an assistant lawyer at the moment. Also, how well did your new novel do?

'Also' is very unnatural here, as is the very sudden change of topic.
