USage of 'AS' as conjunction

Hi everybody!

I'm wondering if 'AS' can be used as conjunction in a context like this:

"We are a step away from compliting our christmas tree as we must just place the topper"

Yes, you are perfeclty right, it's a bit litteray but it's not a problem because it's taken from a technical manual I'm writing. The original sentence is strictly technical and I've adapted it to make it meaningful for not-technical guys
