U made me want to be a better woman

I know this sentence is grammatically correct.

But I think it is weird...

How do other people make me wanna be??

I think

"I wanted to be a better woman becaus of you."

This sentence is more proper and formal.

plz make me enlightened!!

Actually, in the move As Good as It Gets I think that Jack Nicholson's character says "You make me want to be a better man." But regardless of the *** of the person saying it, the grammar is the same.

Because of you, I want to be a better man/woman. You can rewrite it as you suggest, but I would use the present tense - you're talking about how you feel NOW.
