Two very different questions
Hi.
1. I learned that the word "originate" could be both transitive and intransitive. Can you give me an example of it being intransitive. I think in this verb form, it means similar to "begin".
2. Which is correct?
We don't charge for our publication/publications.
Our publication/publications is/are free of charge. Take them as many as you like, as long as copies are on the table.

If there is only one publication then the singular - if there are more than one, then the plural.
Example:
