Question

This sunny day suddenly has turned out to be a rainy day.(it rained suddenly).This sunny day suddenly has turned out as rainy day.(rained suddenly).
Who had known that that sunny day would have turned out to be a rainy day.
Who had known that that sunny day would have turned out as rainy day.

I tried to use phrasel verb "turn out" correctly but this "to be" confusing me. Is there any difference between meaning if I add "to be" or if I don't?

"to be" is almost a required part of "turned out" when a noun follows. You rarely see "as" instead.

"turned out to be" should be thought of as a set combination. I found all of these on just the first page of results from a fraze.it search:
