Tummy goes nineteen to the dozen
Hi guys.
I have a question about the following sentence.
"I hadn’t actually felt nervous most of the day, but now my tummy started going nineteen to the dozen."
I think she, which is "I," is now nervous. Then, what happened to her stomach? Is it growling because she is (probably) hungry? Or does she need to go to the bathroom?
I know "to talk nineteen to the dozen" means "to talk very fast," and I could imagine what is happening if the subject was "my heart." However, I cannot imagine what is going on with her tummy.

You're right with your meaning of talking nineteen to the dozen. Here she is very nervous so here stomach is turning over and over (because of nerves). She probably feels sick.
