tropical strip?

Hello

Does the expression tropical strip exist?

Tornados occur in the tropical strip.

I would use the tropical zone or the tropics. What about you?

Thank you Mowgli

I would use tropical zone or tropics; I have never heard tropical strip , but it obviously has a respectable usage in the meteorological field: Tropical Strip Surface Charts are historical charts archived at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). These analyzed charts are prepared by the National Weather Service, and archived on 35-mm microfilm by the NCDC. The charts are on one reel of microfilm for 1969, two reels per year (January - June, July - December) 1970 through 1978, and 4 reels per year from January 1979 through 1984, 6 reels per year from January 1985 through 1992.
