I tell my friend why I'm leaving today instead of September 26th. I say:
If I go back on the 26th, I'll be flying straight to school, because it starts the next day.
Or
If I went back on the 26th, I'd be flying straight to school, because it starts the next day.
What's the difference and which one is the more correct usage?
