Q1) What is the function of this to-infinitive phrase "to even come close to knowing" ?

Is this an to-infinitive result? Or to-infinitive purpose?

Q2) Is this sentence "You would have to be a parent that has seen your child die, to even come close to knowing what I feel now" correct English?

I think that the to-infinitive phrase functions as a to-infinitive result.

Infinitive of purpose.

It is. I see no reason for the comma, however.

You need to rethink that. Whenever you can say "in order to", as you can do here, it's an infinitive of purpose.

You would have to be a parent that has seen your child die in order to even come close to knowing what I feel now.
