"to choose to do smth" vs. "to choose doing smth."
Could you please suggest whether both following variants are gramatically correct?
* to choose to buy a book
* to choose buying a book
If both are valid, is one of them considerably more common than another?

"to choose to buy a book" is more usual and often more elegant, but both are possible in the right context:
"She chose to buy a book rather than get a new hat."
"She chose buying a book over getting a new hat."
"She chose to buy a book rather than get a new hat."
"She chose buying a book over getting a new hat."
