Thought vs thinking
In my thinking / thought, people should help the poor.
In this case should I use thinking or thought?
To me, they seem same.
So I took a look at my dictionary.
thought
1. sth you think about [c]
sth that you think ok, remember or realize = idea
ex) Erika had a sudden thought. Why don't you come with me?
2. ideas/opinions thought[pl.]
a person's ideas or opinions about sth
What are your thought, Sam? (In this case, must I use plural form?)
thinking
1. your opinion or ideas about sth, or your attitude towards it
The administration's thinking changed as the war progressed.
The above is from my dictionary. I am still confused which one I should use...

In my opinion, neither is good. I'd say you need the verb think I think that people should help the poor. The nouns, however, are fine in the following sentences This process will involve a lot of thinking.
