Though / Although
It says in my grammar book that " although " should be followed by a subordinate(dependent) clause . Is this true for "though" ?
Check these example :
1. Although it is called a sea , the landlocked Caspian is the largest lake on Earth .
2. Although called a sea , the landlocked Caspian is the largest lake on Earth.
3.Though it is called a sea, the landlocked Caspian is the largest lake on Earth.
4.Though called a sea, the landlocked Caspian is the largest lake on Earth.
the 1st and 3rd have subordinate clauses( consists of a subject 'it' and a verb 'is' while the 2nd and 4th don't). Which one is correct ?

Hi, All 4 are fine. 2 and 4 are just a little abbreviated, but that's quite normal. Clive

Anonymous... followed by a subordinate(dependent) clause . Is this true for "though" ?No. 'though' can also occur alone at the end of a sentence.
I saw that movie. I didn't like it, though.
