Their lives, or their life?
I've seen a topic similar to this question, but the answer was still slightly vague to me..
Would it be correct to say:
It is dishonest and demeaning to the couple, for they have given their lives up honestly for the benefit of others.
Or should/ could it be changed to:
it is dishonest and demeaning to the couple, for they gave their life honestly for the benefit of others.
I'm not sure which one is correct.. Or maybe they both are, or.. Aren't? Please help anyone! My paper is due in 5 hours, would greatly appreciate it!
