Theft and thievery

Hi

Please tell me how common the word thievery is among native speakers.

Thanks,

Tom

PS: I've always used theft.

Not that common. It makes me think of old west train robberies or Victorian children in Oliver Twist. "Robbery" or "mugging" are more common.

"Robbery" or "mugging" are more common. Slang gives us "being jacked".
