The usage of "give"
The protagonist is one of family member of Amber.
His best friend and cousin, Luke has tried to revenge himself on them for the killing of his father.
"You are, as you noted last night, my prisoner. I'd be nuts to let you go anywhere without knowing a hell of a lot more than I do. You're a threat to Amber. That bomb you tossed the funeral was pretty damn real. You think I want to give you another shot at us?"

I'd like to know why "want to give you another shot" means "want to let you give another shot," not "want to shot you one more time."
