The expression "be it" in past tense
Hi,
Would it possible to use the expression "be it" in a past tense?
Present: I want the two of us to get out of this without harm to our health, be it physical or mental.
Past: I wanted the two of us to get of this without harm to our health, be it physical or mental.

'be it' is just short for the subjunctive 'whether it be' is it not--so the construction works with any tense.
