The difference between sland and idiom?

Hi.I've just run into an expression whose identity is vague for me! Idiom or slang?It's stuff it.http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/stuff-it-them-you-etc?q=stuff+it says it's slang, while Oxford calls it idiom. Who lies?

Neither, they just have different interpretations on what is slang and what is an idiom.

Take back something, as in As for that memo of yours, you can just stuff it. This idiom is used, often as an interjection, to express contempt or defiance. Presumably it is short for “Stuff it up your ***.” [ Vulgar slang; 1950s]

When slang expressions penetrate into a wider range of speakers, and become a widely-used part of the language, they can become idioms. This expression originated in the 1950s and is no longer confined to a particular social group.
If an expression has its own dictionary entry, it's recognized enough to be called an idiom.

Cambridge's definition of "slang":
Slang is vocabulary that is used between people who belong to the same social group and who know each other well. Slang is very informal language. It can offend people if it is used about other people or outside a group of people who know each other well. We usually use slang in speaking rather than writing. Slang normally refers to particular words and meanings but can include longer expressions and idioms.

What you've done here we call "jumping to conclusions". Just because two sources give you a different description of the same thing, it doesn't mean that one of them is lying. ("lying" is a very strong word, by the way.)

Suppose I show my pet to you and ask you what it is. You say it is an animal.
I show it to someone else and they say it is a dog.

Now is it a dog? Or is it an animal? Who is lying?

With this in mind, does it make any sense to assume that you are lying by saying it is an animal? Or to assume that the other person is lying by saying it is a dog?
