The cost of a product

Question

I bought an item and paid about 400 dollars. It was a special offer. The ordinary price was almost 500 dollars.

1. If I had bought it for the ordinary price, it would cost me 500 dollars.

2. If I had bought it for the ordinary price, it would have cost me 500 dollars.

3. If I bought it for the ordinary price, it would cost me 500 dollars.

4. If I bought it for the ordinary price, it would have cost me 500 dollars.

This should be a subjunctive sentence.

Now I have made the purchase.

It is not possible to reverse it or rather I am not going to return it to the shop.

Are all my sentences fine?

Use #2 for an event in the past.

Use #3 for a future event (speculating about this event in the present.)

This is a past event which didn't materialize. So it should be the third conditional.

I was not born during the 1^st and the 2^nd world war.

8.If I had lived during the 2^nd World War, I might/would have met/seen Hitler.

9.If I had borne in 30s, I might/would have met/seen Hitler.

How about the 8^th and 9^th sentences?

I am not sure whether it is correct to write the verb 'have' with the verb 'bear'.

In English it is always ' I was born or rather 'be born'.

[Other languages use 'I am born'. French and German use the form Je suis né(e) en 2007 and Beethoven wurde 1770 in Bonn geboren .] Even Russian uses the form 'I am born'

Yes, you are correct. Here are some examples;

If I had graduated from university, I would have earned more money.

If he had sailed on the Titanic, he would have drowned.

I could have moved my own furniture if I had bought a truck instead of a sports car.

If the great comet had not hit the earth, dinosaurs might be living today.

And your #8 fits this pattern:

If I had lived during WWII, I might have seen Hitler.

If I had lived during WWII, I would have seen Hitler.

If I had lived during WWII, I could have seen Hitler.

If I had been born during the 30's, I might have seen Hitler.

Born: This is a verb related to someone's (or something's) own birth event. It is always passive, but can be any tense:

He was born in Berlin during WWII. While he was being born, bombs were falling on the city.

In this strain of mice, the pups are always born with a specific defective gene. This strain was bred for scientific and medical research.

Will a great leader be born in the 21st century?

Bear/borne - related to the birth from the mother's perspective. It is active voice, but it is rather quaint and old-fashioned. Today we just use the verb "have."

She has borne (bore) six children; three boys and three girls.

Bear/borne has other meanings:

All of us must bear some responsibility for the current economic situation.

The Greek debts must be borne by all the EU members because they share the same currency.
