I believe the indefinite article "a" should be omitted.

To the best of my knowledge, both expressions carry the same meaning. "the condition of employment" "the condition of being employed"

also, the situation of being married / employed - the status of being married / employed

What is your condition / situation / status ?

What is your marital status? What is your employment status? (reply) I'm single and I'm unemployed. I'm married and I'm employed. .

The condition is the way things are. I'm pregnant. I have a condition of pregnancy. I have a condition of being pregnant.

"Condition" is often used in dictionary definitions. "What is pregnancy?" "It is the condition of being pregnant." "The condition of pregnancy"

"Marriage" is defined as "the condition of being married."

In a completely different sense, we may ask, "What is the condition of your marriage?" (What kind of shape is it in?)

(reply) "My marriage is in very good condition. We're very happy and comfortable and have good prospects for the future."

Or in the plural, "What are the conditions of your marriage?" (reply) "We have a prenuptual agreement that I pay all the bills and she can do whatever she wants."
