When we want to emphasise something, we put 'way' in front of 'better,' don't we ?
When I said That's far better, a native speaker said something with 'far' in my sentence to someone sitting next to him; I didn't hear that.
Q) I was just wondering if it does not sound colloquial.

Hi, 'Way' is the more colloquial word. 'Far' is more standard. Clive
