HiDo you know if there is a linguistic/lexical term describing words like inhibition, "the act of inhibiting or the state of being inhibited" (I mean both active and passive, sth like that........ (Edited)A lot of thanks!

I dont exactly what you mean.. term for what? (medicine? law? etc)

the word "inhibition" itself is a term in pharmacology (competitive and non competitive inhibition for receptors)

I find such pair of things like "agent(operator)-object, active-passive" and the use of the word"easy" are very tricky. (you can understand it for a while, but later, you'll find it's still inexplicable)

like, you know, "substitute /be substituted" means the "same". I mean, the direction of the main action denoted by the verb doesn't change, unlike give/be given. And this interesting post by milky. And this word inhibition I encountered today. It's totally a mess in my brain.

I know I have very vague and superficial impressions about such things. (Maybe they just shouldn't be listed together!). But very curious about you guys' comprehensions about it.
