Tennessee dumb law

I cannot understand the following dumb law of Tennessee how funny it can seem Emotion: smile: You can't shoot any game other than whales from a moving automobile. Why whale? Why exactly a moving vehicle? What's the essense of this law?

Quite a few states—and countries, for that matter—have odd laws that for one reason or another have never been repealed. I must confess that I find this particular law strange, however, since as far as I can recall, Tennessee is a landlocked state; where would one find a whale to hunt? It looks like a hoax, unless the site where you found it provided a proper reference.

Still such dumb laws include issues that are obvious or contradict smth therefore they are dumb, but this one is obscure and i cannot even understand what they wanted to say by that. It seems to be just a set of words for me
