If we are to save our planet, it is important that this is treated as a priority for all concerned.Should it not be "...this be treated..."?

Alas, the mandative construction (You say 'subjunctive') is losing ground.

I would certainly have written it 'be', not 'is'. (< Remember this construction? )

I'm told that American English is more conservative than British English, so Americans are more likely to prefer 'be'; nevertheless, even Americans are forgetting the 'good old ways' in which our 'ancestors' used to write.
