Study leave extension request letter

Hello, can you kindly please help me proof reading my leave extension letter

I am writing to you requesting for extension of my study leave until December 2017. I took study leave from the Ministry in February 2016, in order to get my honours degree in my hounours degree in Environmental and Geographical Science, agreeing to return in December 2016. I am almost complete with and I will be graduating on schedule by December, 2016.

I was subsequently offered the opportunity and a scholarship to to study for a Masters degree in Environmental and Geographical Science specializing in Climate Change and Sustainable Development. The program commences on January 2017 to December 2017and an extension of my study leave with one year would afford me the opportunity to obtain my masters degree.

Should my educational leave extension be approved ,up on completion of my studies I will continue my work at the Ministry. My education will be very useful in serving the ministry and would improve my skills as a professional.

I have attached my admission letter for the masters program and will be happy to provide any other documents you may need to support my request.
