Strike
Does the term 'strike' make sense in this context:
"I saw a miniature boat floating on the water.
So I ran to the water, I threw myself into the it on my belly, and tried to grab the boat, but unexpectedly it escaped from the reach of my hands.
Anyway, I didn't lose my determination, and with my eyes fixed on a boat, I was sure that in my next strike, the boat would be in my hands."
(And would 'onslaught' (instead of 'strike') make sense?)
