If those are my choices, I choose since. Both are acceptable, but I don't like as when its used in that sense. g.

If those are my choices, I choose since. Both are acceptable, but I don't like as when its used in that sense. I prefer to use 'as' in different situations, e.g. "As I was walking down the street one day," I knew an older teacher who said that when she was a younger prescriptivist, 'as' was marked wrong when used to mean since, but the rules have been changed because of common usage.
