There should be a full stop. I shouted belongs to "What?!" not to the next sentence. Emotion: wink

I puzzled over this question and didn't have an answer that I thought was good enough. Good job, Elanguest!

'WHAT?!'

For proper punctuation, use either a question mark or an exclamation mark, but not both.

Indeed. The use of all caps, an exclamation mark, and the word "shouted" is an excessive combination of cues for your reader.

Don't write an entire sentence in all caps.
