Recently in newspaper I read an article regarding weather- A few lines- Don't let the cold winter this year blindside you to contrary phenomenon that is creeping up on us. Could you explain it please.

(I'd say "a contrary phenomenon.")

The idea is that global warming is advancing slowly but surely, in spite of occasional brief anomalies suggesting that it is not.
