I know that my problem isn´t grammar in general but I would really love some help in analysing these sentences which I find very difficult! I´ve tried myself, but I know my tries are incorrect. Thanks in advance.
I am supposed to identify the primary sentence constituents in these sentences.
1. She | tried phoning | his home number, | but | he | didn´t | answer.
Subject | Verb | Direct object / noun phrase | conj. | subject/ noun phrase | verb | verb - Could "but he didn´t answer" be a clause??
2. Recently | the company | has been trying | to increase its turnover | by diversifying into other fields.
There are often optional ways of looking at sentence structure, but here are my opinions: 1. She | tried phoning | his home number, | but | he | didn´t answer. Subject | Verb | Direct object / noun phrase | conj.
