Could you please check whether the sentence below sounds well to ear?I am pleased to emphasize that by contributing substantial support to Afghanistan through the DEEP programme Ukraine, apart from being recipient, has become also a contributor to the program.

Just a little word-order problem, shown above. Other than that, it sounds good. I'm just concerned that it suggests that Ukraine contributed support to Afghanistan and was a recipient, and was a contributor. Semantically it goes in circles, doesn't it?

A little off-topic, and you may already know this.

Before the 1960s the name of the country was always preceded by "the", so if it had been written then, your sentence would have had "... the Ukraine, apart from ...".

This designation began to die out in the 1960s with only sporadic uses into the mid-1980s. Since then "the" has been dropped.

I mention this in case you see "the Ukraine" in older texts and begin to wonder about it.
