I know 'scrap paper', what's 'scratch paper'?

Hi, It's paper you use to scribble rough notes on, eg to plan an essay before you start to write it, or to do rough calculations on. You can buy it bound in the form of a scratch pad, but really it can be any piece of paper that you use for a rough or preliminary purpose. Best wishes, Clive

I realized after I had written Post:167385 that I had forgotten "scratch paper." Clive explained it perfectly. In many situations, you might say either "scrap paper" or "scratch paper," but I would say that technically "scrap paper" refers to the origin or condition of the paper and "scratch paper" refers to the use describe

I think scratch paper must be USEng, I've not heard of it.
