Salutation of a business letter
When writing a business letter, do I use a comma or a colon after the salutation/greeting? I was taught that a comma is only for informal letters. Please clarify.

When writing a business letter, do I use a comma or a colon after the salutation/greeting? I was taught that a comma is only for informal letters. Please clarify.
I was taught that a comma is fine for all letters. So, that's what I use.
However, I do see a colon, sometimes.
