aagha. No sense getting him all upset ....... (does not matter how crucial/important the thing is can’t upset him) We'd better not go through with this plan. It will upset him; and the benefits we might get from doing this will not outway the damage of upsetting him.

OR Let's do it anyway, but simply not tell him about it, because it will only upset him.

2. I'd meet her at the pool over an hour ago! I'd better make tracks. There is no meaning for this. You probably mean, "I was supposed to meet her at the pool over an hour ago. Etc." (It means you're late for an appointment and you need to hurry to get there.)

"I'd meet her at the pool" could describe habitual behavior (I'd meet her every afternoon) OR you could mean, "I told her I'd meet her etc."

3. Maybe he didn't mean to be rude. Maybe what he said just came out that way (he said without thinking or he did not mean it) Perhaps his words were poorly chosen and did not express his true intention.

4. My wet hair was hanging in my eyes .. This is idiomatic for "hanging in front of my eyes, blocking my vision."
