Repeating a prep?

XYZ is contained in layer ABC in the air.

Is repeating "in" like this okay? I suppose I need a verb after ABC, though. Do you have any solution?

Top answer

The given sentence is acceptable, but putting "In the air" at the beginning of the sentence would be better.

Perhaps try,

XYZ is found in the ABC layer of the atmosphere.

Is that "of" to avoid repeating "in"? Or is "layer of the atmosphere" a natural way?

In that sentence, "of" denotes possession; it means belonging to.
