'remembering' and 'having remembered'
Hello,
Could anyone tell me which phrase below is the grammatically correct way to use.
1. Remembering my mother's birthday was nice of you;she was thrilled with the present.
2. Having remembered my mother's birthday was nice of you;she was thrilled with the present.
I feel #1 is a normal phrase, and #2 is not wrong but is a little excessive.
Is #2 gramattically wrong, or right but natives usually don't use?

1 is correct, but use a comma rather than the semi-colon. An example of having remembered: Having remembered her birthday, I thought I'd better buy her a card.
