"represent"

Question

hello "The next step consists in representing your scenario as a series of diagrams"  Is the verb "to represent" correctly used in that context (i.e.make a  series of diagrams that show in detail what the scenario is) ? If not,  could anyone suggest an alternative?Thanks for any help, as always

I don't see any problem at all with the choice of the word representing. What, may I ask , is the basis of your hesitation, Kangiten?

Thanks for the reply, that was fast [H]

I'm French and work as a translator in my firm, I translate in the wrong direction, so to speak so I tend to hesitate with words sometimes, especially when similar French words exist; I'm afraid of letting my use of French influence my English translations. For instance, the french verb "représenter" was used in the original sentence, I was wondering if its direct equivalent could be used with the same meaning.

Represent is a fine word choice, but I do see something I think is incorrect. 'In' does not sound right. I would use 'of'.

'To consist in + (something)' means 'to be based on something'

whereas

'To consist of + (something) means 'to be formed from more than two things'

So which meaning are you after??
