I want to write this sentence with an exclamation mark. How can I do it correctly?

Flick! went the snake. or Flick!, went the snake.

"Flick!" went the snake. The exclamation point inside the sentence is unconventional to the point of attracting too much attention to itself, but if you don't mind that, you're OK.
