There are audio clips at http://www.macmillandictionary.com/dictionary/american/data . Note the two distinct pronunciations. Both clips are of American speakers. I can't find a clip of a British speaker, but most British speakers say it like the second example, except that the "t" tends to sound more like a "t" and less like a "d".
