Progressions

Hey there,

two football players (they don´t like each other) are talking:

A: Should I bother coming out for the next play or what?

B: Just going through my progressions out there.

A: Like you went through your progressions on Sunday?

My question is ... what exactly is meant by this dialog
And what by "progression"? Does it mean he is improving his skills?
